By applying to become a member of BDB applicants understand that they do so as a matter of choice and that acceptance of their application does not indicate any financial requirement or commitment made by the applicant to Breaking Down Barriers, neither does it place the applicant under any position of obligation towards the charity (as would be the case with full members).
The members of BDB form an extended network of contacts and volunteers who assist and participate actively or are in receipt of correspondence containing news, activity updates and general offers. Applicants are free to opt-out from receiving correspondence at any time and are not required make renewals of any sort.
Breaking Down Barriers reserves the right to refuse an applicant ‘member of BDB membership’ when it is felt that accepting it would be detrimental to the organisation or the individual. Breaking Down Barriers holds the right to cancel any friend of BDB membership at its discretion where there is due cause to do so.
It is a requirement that all persons wishing to become a member of Breaking Down Barriers complete the registration and application form.
All applicants under the age of 13 must make their application in the presence of, and overseen by a consenting parent of guardian. By completing and submitting an application form, the applicant confirms that they understand and accept the terms and conditions.
Applications will be processed on a first-come first-served basis though we hope to process all applications within the minimal amount of time of time.
All personal information collected from the application process will be kept securely on the BDB database. This information will be shared only with the Ownz Group where an applicant has indicated that they wish also to become a member of the Ownz Club as part of their signing up to be a friend of BDB. In the case of both entities, all information will be kept private and will only be used in the interest of providing the applicant with services and information relevant to them.
Friends of Breaking Down Barriers and members of the Ownz Club hold the right to withdraw their membership at any time and may request to have their personal information removed from the database.
